The one-hand-operated harness system is characterized by its simple and comfortable handling since tightening and releasing the straps can easily be accomplished with only one hand (by pulling the central belt respectively by pressing the button embedded in the seat).

Unlike other harness systems – in a lot of which both straps have to be adjusted individually – our system ensures a snug fit to the child’s body, thus making a faulty handling almost impossible. As a result, the GEMS harness system increases both safety and user friendliness simultaneously.

The front wheels of all models can be locked into position making sure that the wheels keep on running straight on longer walks or more difficult terrain.

With conventional buggies securing the wheel lock can be very inconvenient, since the wheels first have to be brought into a straight position in order to be then locked by hand. The CYBEX GEMS, however, are equipped with an automatic lock. The wheel locks can be fastened in any given position – by simply lifting the lever at the front wheels with the tip of one foot. The wheels will automatically lock into position when moving forward.

The side walls of the ONYX/TOPAZ can removed from the frame in only a few simple steps and folded flat thus improving air ventilation tremendously when outdoor temperatures call for it. With open side walls the canopy, however, can still be used to protect the child from being exposed to the sun.

IMPORTANT: Regardless the use of the side walls, the belts of the harness systems should ALWAYS be fastened snugly in order to prevent the child from falling out of the buggy under all circumstances.

The CYBEX ONYX/TOPAZ is one of few buggies that has been approved for newborns. Usually conventional products may only be used from the age of 6 months on.

Since newborn babies are not yet able to support themselves sitting up, they should be transported in a lying position during the first months of their lives in order to support the baby’s back. The back rest of the ONYX/TOPAZ can be brought into an almost horizontal position and thus meeting the demands of the ergonomics suitable for newborn babies.

Additionally, the harness system can be adjusted at the backrest depending on the age of the child. The lower position makes it possible to safely use the belts for a newborn child. The upper position was designed for older children. Please refer to your instruction manual for further information on the right setting of the harness system.

Before folding the buggy please remove big items for them not to be crushed or damaged.
