Sirona rear-facing car seat
Safely rear-facing from birth up to 18kg (approx. 4 years)
A rear-facing child seat reduces the risk of injury in a head-on collision by more than 80% when compared to a conventional forward-facing seat with harness system, as the force of an impact is distributed evenly over a large area.*
- Safely rear-facing up to approx. 4 years
- 360° rotation with easy entry position
- Front-facing with adjustable impact shield (9 –18 kg)
- One-click installation with ISOFIX
- Telescopic Linear Side-impact Protection (L.S.P. System)
Leading consumer organisations therefore recommend that children remain in rear-facing child seats even beyond group 0+. The excellent safety performance and clever functionality of the pioneering combination car seat Sirona was awarded TEST WINNER by Germany's leading consumer testing organisation Stiftung Warentest in the test 6/2012.
*According to research conducted by VTI – Swedish Road and Transport Research Institute (Rapport 489A, 2003)
Easy entry & exit position
A clever 360° rotation system makes life easier and less back-breaking for parents.
The clever rotation mechanism makes it easy to change between the rear-facing and forward-facing positions without having to take the seat out. Getting in and out is also easy as the seat can be turned to the side facing the door with one simple click.
One-click installation with isofix
For both rear- and forward facing position
A one-click installation with ISOFIX both in rear- and forward-facing position allows for simple installation and guarantees increased safety.
Sirona is secured using the car's ISOFIX system and requires no further fastening. A prop at the front helps to absorb the force of impact in case of a head-on collision and provides additional stability. This anchoring technology minimizes installation mistakes and optimizes the protective effect.
Direct link between car and seat
The innovative Seat-to-Chassis technology creates a direct link between the seat and the chassis.
In case of an accident, the force of an impact is transferred straight to the chassis, which simultaneously activates the safety features of the car and the seat and thereby initiates the process of distributing the force at the earliest possible stage of an accident. Patent pending.
Telescopic L.S.P. System
Linear Side-impact Protection
The telescopic linear side-impact protection (L.S.P. System) absorbs the force of a side-impact collision at a very early stage (patent pending).
Whether rear- or forward-facing, the CYBEX SIRONA's adjustable Linear Side-impact Protection system (L.S.P.) increases the level of safety in case of a side-impact collision. The L.S.P. system can be individually adjusted to the position of the seat and the type of vehicle and absorbs the force of a side-impact collision in combination with the head and shoulder protectors (patent pending).
Alternative - forward facing
For children from 9-18 kg
Depending on their shape and size, older children may have insufficient legroom when sitting backwards.
In this case, the CYBEX Sirona can also be used as a forward-facing seat with impact shield - from 9-18 kg (approx. 9 months to 4 years).
Adjustable impact shield with A.R.T. Technology
Safety without confinement
The adjustable impact shield with A.R.T. Technology cleverly reduces the risk of serious neck injuries without confining the child (patent pending). Thanks to the new integrated fastening system, there is no longer the need to fasten the impact shield separately.
In the forward-facing position, the child is protected by an adjustable impact shield. This system works like an inflated airbag, which absorbs the energy of impact over its entire area. Compared to a conventional 5-point harness, the strain on the neck is significantly reduced. What is more, in case of an accident, the impact shield's new Active Response Technology (A.R.T.) ensures that the child is intuitively secured within the safety zone of the seat (patent pending). Thanks to the new integrated fastening system, it is also unnecessary to fasten the impact shield with the car seatbelt (patent pending).

Is this the right seat for my car?
We extensively test the suitability for all our products in all the latest vehicle models. Should your vehicle not appear please contact our customer service team for further assistance. We always recommend that you do a test installation at a qualified retailer to confirm individual compatibility. You should especially check that your vehicle model has ISOFIX anchorage points (US: LATCH ) and the length of the vehicle seat belt as this may vary, even during the same production year of manufacture.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Why can’t I rotate the seat by a full 360°?
The sophisticated 360° rotating mechanism makes it easy to switch from a rear-facing to the forward-facing position - there is no need to remove and re-install the seat which can be an awkward task and cause back strain. Additionally, this mechanism allows the seat to be turned towards the door, making it easy to take the child in and out of the seat. In concrete terms, this means that the seat can be rotated to the left or right to face the door and can also be used either in a forward- or rear-facing position.
- What do I have to bear in mind when installing the Sirona in my vehicle?
The One-Click ISOFIX system makes it easy to install the seat in either a forward- or a rear-facing position and guarantees increased levels of safety. The integrated supporting leg provides additional stability and absorbs the forces released in a head-on collision. The Sirona can only be installed using the ISOFIX connectors.
- Is my child allowed to rest his/her legs on the rebound bar?
Relatively tall infants may rest their legs on the rebound bar. Bending the legs at the knee does not affect safety in any way. As long as the child has sufficient legroom we recommend using the seat in a rear-facing position, which exposes the child to less force in the event of a collision.
- Can I also use the Sirona in a car without Isofix anchorage points?
The Sirona is an ISOFIX-only seat and can only be installed in vehicles with ISOFIX anchorage points.
- When can I start using the Sirona in a forward-facing position?
Once your child has reached a weight of 9kg, the Sirona can also be used in a forward-facing position. This is not, however, mandatory. We recommend that children travel in a rear-facing position for as long as possible.
- Can I use the Sirona without the newborn inlay even for a young baby?
The Sirona is approved from birth, which means that it can also be used without the newborn inlay. The newborn inlay is specifically designed for premature babies and very small newborns. Its purpose is to reduce the size of the seat to ensure these infants receive the best possible protection.
- Do both LSPs have to be extended for safety reasons?
To provide the best possible protection, the telescopic L.S.P. protector nearest the door should be extended as far as possible. It is designed with two settings. If in the longest setting, the L.S.P. touches the vehicle door, then the first setting must be used instead. When the seat is installed in the middle seat, the linear side-impact protection (L.S.P. System) should not be pulled out.
- How can I convert the Sirona into a forward-facing seat?
We recommend using the Sirona in a rear-facing position for as long as possible to provide the highest level of safety. As soon as your child no longer has enough legroom in a rear-facing position, the seat can be used together with the impact shield in a forward-facing position. To do so, the harness first has to be tucked away in the seat so that the latter can be released. Subsequently, the seat can simply be rotated and your child can be secured with the impact shield. For further details on converting the seat, please refer to the instructions or our installation video which can be found at the top of the product page.
- Can I use the seat and the base when the side airbag is activated?
Yes, side airbags may remain activated when using the baby seat.
- What is the difference between the Sirona and the Sirona M i-Size?
Both car seats are designed for the rear-facing transportation of children up to four years of age. The biggest difference between the two: The Sirona M i-Size complies with the requirements of the new i-Size standard. The Sirona is approved in compliance with standard ECE-R 44/04. Other differences lie in their functionality and specifications: In the case of the Sirona M i-Size, the child is secured using a five-point harness both in the forward and rear-facing positions. In the case of the Sirona, the child is secured with a safety cushion in the forward-facing position and a five-point harness only in the rear-facing position. The switch between the forward- and rear-facing positions is effected on the Sirona by rotating the seat 360 degrees, and on the Sirona M i-Size by using the click system. The Sirona can be set in seven (rear-facing) and five sitting and lying positions (forward-facing), whereas the Sirona M i-Size has three (forward-facing) and five sitting and lying positions (rear-facing). The side-impact protection on the Sirona is telescopic but on the Sirona M i-Size the protector is folded out. The rebound bar on the Sirona can be removed, whereas on the Sirona M i-Size it is an integral part of the base. Moreover, the Sirona M i-Size is fitted with fixed shoulder pads and a support leg indicator which shows whether the seat, base and support leg have been installed correctly. The Sirona M i-Size comes in eight colours, whereas the Sirona is available in eight colours and seven additional Plus colours.
- What kind of clothing should my child wear when seated in the car seat?
Thick clothing prevents the harness from lying snugly against the body. This incorrect belt positioning could result in the harness slipping off the shoulder. For this reason, your child should wear everyday clothing. Thick clothing such as winter jackets should be avoided where possible. Once your child has been positioned in the seat, he/she can be covered with an extra blanket for warmth.
- Can I use this seat on a flight?
No, this seat is not approved for use on an airplane.
- Is it ok to keep using a seat after an accident?
We at CYBEX strongly recommend that you replace a seat after any kind of accident. This is because tiny hairline cracks, which may not be visible to the naked eye, can appear in the plastic parts of a seat after an accident. These cracks can pose an increased risk to safety.
- My car seat is faulty, how can I get it repaired?
Please refer to the retailer where you bought your CYBEX seat. They will deal with the matter on your behalf.
- Where can I get replacement parts for my product?
You can order replacement parts from a specialist retailer near you. To find a store near you, simply go to the store locator on our website: http://cybex-online.com/de/retailer.html
- Will CYBEX release an i-Size seat with a safety cushion? /When does CYBEX plan to launch a Platinum i-Size seat?
Whether and when CYBEX will bring out another i-Size product is unknown at this moment in time. The engineers at CYBEX are constantly working in close cooperation with experts from other leading brands and institutions involved in child safety to drive forward the development of new products. As soon as CYBEX decides to launch a new i-Size seat, we will announce our plans on our website and on social media.
